In December 2023, in close collaboration with the San José Office of Cultural Affairs Public Art Program, we unveiled the Lenticular Art Lab, a key component of our Art + Technology Program. This initiative connects travelers to San José's unique blend of creativity and technological innovation.
The Terminal B Mezzanine Art Window (located near the TSA queue) features rotating exhibitions. Over the last year, passengers had the opportunity to admire works by Robin Gibson and Sam Rodriguez.
Beginning March 2025, new artworks will be on display, offering fresh perspectives and experience:
Frequent Flyers by Roan Victor: This four-panel series draws inspiration from the wildlife in Victor’s San José garden. Bees, birds and butterflies attracted to native plants mirror the movement of travelers passing through the City—for work, education, leisure or to settle. The piece underscores the bond between humans and nature, reminding us of our integral connection to the environment.
Flightpath by Jai Tanju: Airplanes pass over downtown San José every seven minutes, from early morning until nearly midnight—a constant presence woven into the City’s rhythm. Having lived downtown for 30 years, artist Jai Tanju captures the simple joy of watching planes overhead, much like a child gazing at the sky in quiet anticipation. Through photography, Tanju adds to the ever-evolving portrait of San José, reflecting the daily observations of those who call it home.
This Lenticular Art Lab introduces large-format lenticular murals designed to create depth and movement. Displayed on illuminated light boxes for maximum vibrancy and visibility, these pieces engage passengers in motion, transforming moments of transit into unexpected experiences.
By reimagining lenticular printing—a technology first patented in 1906—the Lenticular Art Lab embraces emerging artistic applications while reflecting the ongoing evolution of visual media. This initiative also lays the foundation for an annual commissioning platform for Bay Area artists, reinforcing the Airport’s commitment to innovation and community.
Next time you pass through Terminal B, take a moment to engage with these installations, experiencing firsthand the dynamic fusion of art and technology that defines San José.
